A Beautiful Prayer for My Wife

Loving your wife is also praying for your wife. There is no more remarkable thing to pray for than her walk with God and growth as Christ’s follower. You can also pray for certain things that are unique to wives. You can pray for matters about being a mother and being the helper that God has given you. Praying for your wife is one of the sweet and loving things you can do for her; even a simple prayer of blessing and protection before you leave home for work can mean a lot. You pray for her because you love and care for her; you are always concerned about her well-being.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Proverbs 18:22

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

How do I pray for my wife?

No husband would want any harm or danger to come near his wife; therefore, praying for divine protection over her is one of the things that you could do for her as part of your care. We are not just talking about physical protection here, but spiritual protection. Don’t forget that spiritual enemies are lurking in the shadows. Another thing you can pray for is that God will cause whatever your wife is working on (provided that it is godly, of course) to bear fruit. You can also pray that she will continue to see more of God’s grace, mercy, and faithfulness in her life so she will be all the more in awe of God and worship Him.

Ephesians 6:10-12

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Here is one sample prayer:

Father, I thank You for blessing me with a wonderful wife, a woman who fits me, and your purpose for me. I thank You because she is one of the testimonies of Your grace in my life. I pray that You would always protect her with Your divine protection and that You will always keep her safe and sound from any harm or danger. I pray that she will continue to grow as Your daughter and continue and persevere to live her life for You. May she always walk in the fear of the LORD and continue to grow in wisdom and Christlikeness. I thank You, Father, because a good wife comes from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Of course, you can also pray for good health for your wife. If both of you are praying for a baby, you can pray for her health as she prepares to have a child. There are so many things that you can pray for your wife but, above all, the important thing to pray for is that she will always remain faithful toward God, persevere in the faith, and live a repentant and obedient life before God.

How do I pray for my wife in the morning?

Praying for your wife does not have to be only during a special occasion. You can pray for her when you do a devotional as a couple before you go to sleep or when you have your time with God. Remember that praying for your wife is rooted in love. Praying for your wife in the morning would also be nice—before she starts her day and you go to work.

Here is one prayer you can pray for her as she starts her day:

Heavenly Father, I pray that You would keep my wife safe and sound as she goes to the places she needs to go. I pray that she will accomplish the things she needs to do today and have a productive day. Bless the work of her hands and use her for Your glory even today. Protect and give her the graces she needs as she looks after our home and our little kids while I’m at work. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Whatever concerns you have about your wife, you can submit them all to God, knowing He cares for you and your wife. God is the one who watches over your wife, and His sovereignty takes away your worries. Know that no evil shall befall your wife, who has God as her dwelling place.
